Mineral Applications
What are Industrial Minerals?
A mineral is a naturally occuring, inorganic solid with a defined chemical composition and a crystalline structure. A rock is an aggregate of one or more minerals. Commercially valuable minerals and rocks are referred to as industrial minerals.
The industries in which they are used include paint, electronics, metal casting & foundry, paper, plastics, glass, ceramics, detergents, drugs & cosmetics, construction materials to mention just a few. They are also employed as processing aids, and are increasingly important in environmental engineering.
