Diatomite
Diatomite is a powdery mineral composed of the fossilised remains of microscopic single-celled aquatic plants called diatoms. Diatoms can uniquely absorb water-soluble silica to form a highly porous, yet rigid skeletal framework of amorphous silica. Diatomite is light, rigid, exceptionally porous, absorbent and pure.
Diatomite is uniquely processed in several ways, creating Natural, Calcined, and Flux-Calcined Grades for a variety of uses. Applications fall into several categories including those listed below.
